I would like to see the piers under the existing bridge turned into an official art installation...some of the existing paintings are amazing and there is heaps of room for more....think silo paintings in Victoria.
A great place to start a conversation about increasing live entertainment in pubs and clubs in the Clarence Valley are the liquor accords in Grafton and the Lower Clarence. @clarencevalleylivemusic on Facebook is also a great initiative. List your events here and share them far and wide. How else can we promote more live entertainment in the region? Share your comments below or 'LIKE' this idea to show your support.
Friends of The Gallery & The Gallery Foundation hold a series of events throughout the Clarence Valley each year, including food-related events. Both organisations would be a great place to start to encourage more events at the gallery. Do you have a specific idea? Share them below.
A pop-up art market is held each year during the plunge Festival at the Yamba River Market. Does it work for you? Do we need more art markets? What would it look like and where would it be located? Who would run/fund the art market? LIKE the idea or share your comments below.

Groups involved in making this happen - CVAAC, council, Elders, next generation, locals schools (Aboriginal education assistants), AECG (NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group), Land Councils, artists. What would you like to see achieved from a CVAAC cultural plan? Join in this conversation in the comments below. 'LIKE' the idea if you'd like to see it happen.
You also said: We should have local Aboriginal kids sharing music and stories and interviewing members of the community on one of our community radio stations - similar to the program the Coffs radio station does in the afternoons. Finding ways to engage and connect with the broader community, and then converting that connection into 'bottoms-on-seats', is a challenge all cultural events in the Clarence Valley face. What is the deciding factor for you about whether to attend an event or not? Cost? Location? Timing? Type of event? Other? What events pull a crowd? What are they getting right? Our vision for the direction of arts and culture in the Clarence Valley is set out in the Clarence Valley Cultural Strategic Plan 2018 - 2022 - a document that was created using community feedback collected at listening posts and conversations with community groups across the region. Council has a project officer dedicated to the development of arts and culture. A large part of her role is public engagement, including attending Clarence Valley Cultural Committee meetings. This Clarence Valley Culture conversation page that you are engaging with now, is another example of council's engagement and continuing conversation on arts and cultural development in our region. What are your thoughts? What other forms of engagement would you like to see? Share your thoughts below.

Examples of events that cater to all ages are markets and food truck events - and they certainly pull a crowd. Maybe this is the winning equation: family events = high attendance? Agree or disagree? A wonderful project for 2019 is 53 Islands, an arts and cultural celebration of Clarence River islands from 7th - 20th October 2019. The project aims to inspire Clarence Valley people and groups to salute the islands with art, photography, land care, science, Aboriginal culture, stories, navigation, fishing etc. Do you have an idea? Get involved. Share your ideas below and contact 53islands@gmail.com for more information. As for signage, our major islands are already signposted including Woodford Island and Goodwood Island. Signposting of islands on the highway and driving to Yamba can only be done where there is a suitable pull over/rest spot such as the sign posting of Ulgundahi Island. Which islands would you like to see signposted? Join in the conversation below.
Do you think we need a public art committee in the Clarence Valley? One of our neighbouring council's, Byron Shire Council, established a public art committee in 2010. This group developed a Public Art Policy and set up a Public Art Assessment Panel to advise council on public art acquisitions and commissions. Who would be keen to sit on a public art committee? How would we fund acquisitions? What sort of public art would you like to see in the Clarence Valley? Share your comments below and 'LIKE' the idea by clicking the heart.
Who likes this idea? In South Grafton, artist Kade Valja's Flow Space Gallery and Studio offers weekly graffiti classes for youth (creative kids vouchers cover the cost for 5 classes!). During the plunge Festival Kade will be hosting an 'Intro to Graffiti' workshop and Posca workshop. Who knows of any other graffiti workshops or projects in the Clarence Valley?
