Grafton CBD Plan & Transport Strategy

We are excited to announce that Council, in partnership with VEE Design Group, Fourfold Studio, Ardill Payne & Partners and Matrix are developing a new Plan and Transport Strategy for Grafton.

The project is focussed on Prince Street (between the Waterfront Project and Oliver St) but will also include the surrounding Central Business District (CBD), the entrances to Grafton (incl. from South Grafton) and the parking and transport needs of business and community.

The CBD Plan will take a 'placemaking' approach to make it a successful regional city, to be a place where people want to spend time to shop, to socialise and to support business. The plan helps implement Priority 1 and Priority 12 of the Councils adopted Local Strategic Planning Statement 2020 and other Council priorities and state government guidance.

We want to work with you, as locals and visitors who live and invest in Grafton.

We will start with observational mapping, background research, online surveys and in-person surveys on:

• Thur 4th Feb - 3.30pm - 7.30pm - Prince St and the Farmers Market, Market Square
• Fri 5th Feb 8.30 - 9.30am Prince Street
• Fri 5th Feb 5 - 6pm Prince Street
• Sat 6th Feb 10 - 11.30am Prince Street

There will also be online promotion and conversations to gather your ideas. More formal consultation will follow in the months ahead as plans are prepared.

• What is missing in the Grafton CBD? For example, what infrastructure, events and activations would improve your experience in Grafton, particularly in and around Prince Street?

Things to consider when responding to the above questions might be:

• How do you currently get to and around the Grafton CBD? Is it accessible for everyone?
• Is there greenery in the centre? Is it cool and shady?
• How does the centre connect with the waterfront?
• Does the street support small businesses to prosper?
• Is the history and heritage of First Nations People celebrated?
