On 16 July 2026, Council endorsed the name Biirrinba Regional Arts Centre for the new facility.

Thank you to everyone who provided ideas for names. A total of 353 people visited the page, with 62 naming submissions that helped shape this important milestone and contributed to selecting a name that reflects the significance of this venue and its connection to place.

Community feedback reflected strong interest in names that recognise Aboriginal culture and connection to the Clarence River. Feedback was also received recognising Maclean's Scottish heritage and significant historical people from within the community. These contributions are valued and may be considered in future placemaking initiatives within the precinct, including opportunities for storytelling, interpretation, and public art.
