CWA William Ager Memorial Park Playground upgrade, Yamba

Community Consultation Summary

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the William Ager Playground upgrade. Community members shared how they use the park for everyday play, family visits and connection to the coastal reserve, and what would improve the space.

Feedback highlighted a strong interest in shade, accessible pathways, nature-based play, swings, climbing opportunities and sensory planting. There was also interest in better connections through the reserve and stronger links to the coastal landscape.

Council considered all feedback alongside site constraints, maintenance needs and available funding. For more detail, refer to the feedback summary report.

The final design includes a custom play tower, new swings including a basket swing, retention of the surfboard rocker, and a nature play area with sandstone boulders and a native sensory garden. New accessible pathways will improve circulation through the reserve, strengthen connections to the existing coastal walk network and improve access between the playground and surrounding park areas.

An updated information and interpretive element acknowledging the history of the site and the contribution of the Ager family and local community groups will also be delivered as part of the works.

Construction is expected to begin in late June 2026, with further updates to follow.
