Powell Street Playground – Community Feedback Update

Powell Street play layout
The upgraded Powell Street Playground has been designed to enhance play opportunities for younger children while retaining the park's relaxed, leafy character. The new playspace includes an Urban Fort multi play unit with integrated climbing and sliding elements, a koala rocker, seesaw and a two-bay swing set featuring a toddler seat and basket swing to provide a greater variety of play experiences.
Existing mature trees have been retained and supplemented with new native tree planting to improve long-term shade, while native garden beds have been incorporated to encourage nature play, curiosity and biodiversity. Additional seating and picnic facilities have also been included to create a more comfortable space for families to gather and supervise children.

Bishop Druitt play layout
The new Bishop Druitt Playground has been designed to provide a more inclusive and engaging destination for children of varying ages and abilities. The upgraded playspace features a new multi-play structure, turbo spinner, balance beams, step pods and a two-bay swing set with toddler and basket swings offering a diverse range of active and imaginative play opportunities.
Community feedback highlighting the importance of comfort and shade has been reflected through additional seating, picnic facilities with a shade shelter, retention of existing trees and new native tree planting to increase future canopy cover. Native gardens have also been integrated throughout the playground to promote natural play experiences and strengthen the landscape character of the park.
