Every two years, Clarence Valley Council receives applications from local event organisers requesting that local public holidays or local event days be declared under the Public Holidays Act 2010 by the NSW Government. Following community consultation and Council consideration, endorsed applications are forwarded to the NSW Government for determination.

As part of the process, we want to hear from the community, businesses and schools to assess community sentiment and the economic benefits of the proposed public holiday dates.

After feedback is received, a report will be presented to the October Ordinary Council meeting for Council endorsement. This information, including any feedback received, will be forwarded with the application to the NSW Government.

What local part-day public holidays are event organisers requesting?

  • Maclean Show: 14 April 2027 & 3 May 2028
