Consultation has concluded

Clarence Valley Council is planning to upgrade the playground at Lions Park, Yamba. This upgrade is required to bring the play equipment up to date with the latest Australian Standards for safety, as well as to improve the play experience, accessibility and diversity. Kids and their parents set the vision for the playground by identifying some key themes and items of equipment during a community consultation open day held late March. Using this information design arrangements have been developed and equipment types that offer a number of physical and psychological benefits and challenges.

We are now seeking your feedback on the overall playground concepts, the elements and equipment. This feedback will help us finalise the design and ultimately construct a playground that the community needs and wants.

Key improvements proposed in the concept include:

  • Provide a range of play experiences and cater to a range of age groups through active, imaginative, creative, social, quiet and free play
  • Create a universally accessible path incorporating a number of inclusive play elements
  • Create a nature play area with an array of textures, sensory activities, gardens and natural sounds to encourage children to engage all of their senses

Please complete the survey, sign the guestbook, leave a comment or ask us a question related to Lions Park Playground and one of our project team members will answer your inquiries.

Hello,

I have just completed the online survey but I was very disappointed that of all the equipment pieces there was only one that would be accessible for my child with a disability - the bird's nest swing.

I would be so proud and so very grateful of my local council and local decision makers if there were more inclusive and accessible play areas.

I'd be very open to more conversation on this if you like.
